Thousand Oaks Heights

Style: Traditional       Built: 1968

Located in the Thousand Oaks Heights neighborhood, one of Berkeley’s best, this level-in 4 bedroom 3 bath home is all about space, style and location. After a few distasteful remodels this once handsome home was eager to be brought back to its traditional roots. Like an onion, layers of “interesting choices” have been peeled back to reveal this home’s previous beauty.

Our renovation started by giving this house its architectural identity back. The nondescript exterior of the home had the addition of a well designed and scaled formal entry, courtyard with fountain and detailed trim work and moldings. Inside, once narrow and awkward hallways have been removed to create flow and connect living spaces. The staircase and vestibule now feature detailed coffered ceilings, stylish railings and skylights that shed beautiful natural light on the original oak floors that have been refinished utilizing our signature “wet process”. The formal living room received the addition of crown molding, traditional framed ceiling detail and handsome fireplace surround that can also be enjoyed from the spacious formal dining room.

The original small kitchen has been expanded to accommodate today’s desire for generous and functional work areas. A spacious peninsula large enough for informal dining, stainless pro appliances, stone counters and new solid wood cabinetry are just a few of the features this spectacular kitchen received.

The main level features three spacious bedrooms that are now bathed in our signature paint palette. The Master bedroom has been reconfigured and now includes a private bathroom with double sinks, double walk in closets and direct access to the large balcony that stretches the entire width of the home.

The lower level features a gracious family room with second fireplace, 4th bedroom with en suite full bathroom and spacious laundry room. A set of Anderson sliding doors now leads to the fantastic yard with gracious patio for entertaining and ample grass for play. This home also features a wonderful detached studio that was included in the remodel…perfect for office, art studio or writers retreat.

This 2100+ square foot home now has a clear pest report, compliant sewer lateral, earthquake retro fit, new energy efficient water heater, and energy star rated appliances…just to name a few.

Bee Renovated is pleased to have the opportunity to bring this wonderful home back to its distinctive roots and continue to restore our neighborhoods one house at a time.
